@Chris AbiWord can do that. You can also use AbiWord from the command line, hence you can automate its usage, for example, in a PHP application.

Thank for your very valid comment. It was an oversight on our behalf that * to TXT was deleted. We have just corrected this issue and you can now convert any supported file format into TXT.

There are quite a few of these document conversion sites on the Internet. I like this one as a) it is free and b) it offers a wide range of file formats. Thanks! Peter
