PHP Unconference EuropeThanks to all those who attended my session at PHP Unconference Europe, in Manchester (UK) and for the fine chats afterwards.

Feel free to approach me and can talk more about using LiveDocx in PHP. I’ll be hanging round until the end of the unconference and then I’ll be at Leeds PHP on Monday night.

You can download the slides to the presentation.

You can also contact me (@JonathanMaron), if you have any further questions.

Microsoft Office 2010LiveDocx is powered by a technology called TX Text Control. Over in the TX Text Control blog, Björn Meyer has just published a very detailed and beautifully illustrated article about creating mail-merge templates in Microsoft Word 2010.

The article shows, in a step-by-step fashion, how to use the current version of Microsoft Word to create templates. Although, the article looks at how the templates can be loaded by TX Text Control .NET Server for Windows Forms and WPF, exactly the same templates can be loaded by LiveDocx.

The following screenshot show some merge fields in the template:

Thank you Björn for the excellent tutorial!

PHP Unconference EuropeI am delighted to announce that I will be proposing a session about LiveDocx at PHP Unconference Europe in Manchester, UK between February 19, 2011 and February 20, 2011:

Template-Based DOCX, DOC & PDF Generation with Zend Framework.

Using the current PHP PDF libraries, it is time consuming to get the formatting of a document exactly right. In this session, I would like to present a new approach to generating not only PDF files with PHP but, amongst others, also DOCX and DOC. It utilizes templates, created in a word processing package, and Zend Framework. The approach supports PHP on Linux, Windows and Mac.

The unconference, which takes place at the Pitcher & Piano, is the first European version of the well established PHP Unconference Hamburg.

Additionally, I will be taking LiveDocx to Leeds PHP on February 21, 2011 and would be delighted to show you how it works, if you cannot make it to the Manchester event.

I look forward to seeing you all in the UK next month.
